The Covid Catalog, Gone Too Soon, Patricia Edwards
The Covid Catalog remembers Patricia Edwards, 62, of South Carolina.
Patricia Lucille Hellams Edwards was born on April 4, 1958; she pursued a degree in nursing from Greenville Technical College. She spent her entire career working as an intensive care unit nurse. Patricia worked overnight shifts looking after the sickest patients in the hospital in the most trying hours of the night. She did not know that the deadly coronavirus would later infect her own family, killing her and her mother within a week.
Her family was not sure where she contracted the virus. She was diagnosed with it on August 7 and was rushed to the hospital with a high fever and breathing problems. She died at Edwards’ intensive care unit at Bon Secours St. Francis-Greenville.
Patricia loved cooking and gardening when she was not working at the hospital. She is survived by her children, grandchildren, and a set of triplets who are her godchildren.
