The Covid Catalogue celebrates Alexa Rose Veit, 15 of Kentucky
Born with special needs in 2005, Alexa Rose Veit survived leukemia in 2019. She started having COVID-19 signs on October 26 and was tested for the virus. Her mother also started feeling unwell and was tested, and both results turned positive.
Veit’s mother was hospitalized as her symptoms worsened, and was placed on a ventilator. Veit’s symptoms stayed mild, but she was eventually hospitalized in Nashville, Tennessee, after developing pneumonia. Her condition deteriorated, and she was placed on a ventilator. She passed away on November 15.
Veit was a freshman at Ballard Memorial High School in Barlow, Kentucky. She will be remembered for her infectious smile, which could brighten anyone’s day. Veit was the first school-going kid to die from COVID-19 in Kentucky.
