The Covid Catalogue remembers Lourdes Rivera, 68 died January 20 at a hospital in Manhattan NY. Her sister, Fatima Rivera, said the cause of his death was Covid-19. Lourdes was born on January 2, 1953, in Santo Domingo, the Dominican Republic, to Pedro Rivera and Rosa Rivera. She was the sixth among nine children; her family moved to New York in the late 1960s. Her father ran a bodega while her mother was a homemaker.
Lourdes was a receptionist at the Columbia Prep private school for almost three decades. One of her alumni described her as a cool receptionist. “we felt cool being around her.” Besides a surrogate mother, Lourdes was a life coach and an inveterate dancer. She retired from Columbia prep in 2018.
Ms. Rivera married and divorced three times. She has left her three children, Wanda Frias, Mills Frias, Jariel Rodriguez, her sister Fatima, a brother, Diorias Rivera, nine grandchildren, and a great-grandchild.
