The Covid Catalogue Gone To Soon Carmen Vasquez

The Covid Catalogue remembers, Ms. Vanquez, one of the most brilliant activists in the L.G.B.T.Q. rights movement. The acclaimed activist died on January 27 in Brooklyn. She died at 72 due to Covid-19 complications. This was reported by her family members Carlie Steen and Erica Pelletreau. Ms. Vazquez was born on January 13, 1949, in Puerto Rico to Jorge and Carmen Maria Vazquez.

Ms. Vazquez was a board member of The National L.G.B.T.Q. Task Force in the 1990s and she participated in countless other organizations that focused on L.G.B.T.Q. issues, especially health. Her self-description was a Puerto Rican, a butch lesbian, and a socialist. Throughout her career, she emphasized coalition building.

Ms. Vazquez is survived by her siblings Ida Molly and Nancy, Migdalia, Jorge, Rose Vazquez, and Ms. Steen and Ms. Pelletreau, who were are family to her with their two children.
