The Covid Catalog remembers Robert Mendoza, 43, of Oceanside.
Robert Mendoza died on April 20, 2020due to Covid—19 complications. He was 43. He started having headaches and loss of taste and smell on the Easter weekend. Mendoza was admitted to the Tri-City-Medical center in Oceanside after testing positive for coronavirus. He was transferred to intensive care and put on a ventilator within days of admission and died a week later.
Mendoza served in the military for almost 13 years. He was deployed to Iraq and Afghanistan and later earned the rank of staff sergeant. Robert was a selfless person and had always wanted to put his life on the line for his country.
‘My son was loved by so many people. He was a good person and loved his country. He survived three wars, and this virus ended his life,’ his mother Yolanda said. He survived serious injuries from the battlefields, but not Covid-19.
