Rev. Jorge Ortiz-Garay
The Covid Catalog remembers Rev. Jorge Ortiz-Garay. A Catholic priest from the diocese of Brooklyn. The 49-year-old, Reverend Ortiz-Garay was the first priest to die of the COVID-19 complications.
Jorge Ortiz-Garay was born in Mexico City, and was ordained in the year 2004. He was posted to carry his ministry in the diocese of Brooklyn in the year 2009. At the Diocese, Jorge was the pastor in charge of the St. Brigid’s church in Wyckoff Heights. He acted as the diocese’s ministry coordinator that dealt with Mexican immigrants’ issues.
He died from complications related to COVID-19 on 27th March. He was receiving treatment at the Wyckoff Medical center in New York.
