The Covid Catalog, Gone Too Soon, Rafael Cartagena

The Covid Catalog remembers Rafael Cartagena,66, of Los Angeles

Cartagena was born in El Salvador in 1953. He grew up in a small town in San Pedro. To sustain his family, Cartagena would drive a bus for a living. However, in 1985 he migrated to the United States with his partner and daughter due to the civil wars. He later secured a printing newspaper job in Los Angeles county.

Cartagena was a highly skilled newspaper producer. He was hardworking and energetic in his work; thus, he had the highest percentage of non-breaks in the newspaper printing department.

In addition, Cartagena was well informed, and he loved to read especially the La Opinion and New York posts. He also enjoyed dancing to cumbia and playing poker.

He was a kind, generous, and caring person. Raphael loved his family and was very proud of their achievements. Unfortunately, Rafael succumbed to Covid-19 at the age of 66.
