The Covid Catalog, gone Too Soon, Marvin W. Carpenter

The Covid Catalog celebrates Marvin W. Carpenter, 84, of El Centro

Carpenter was born in El Centro to William Weed Carpenter and Madge Lavine Cox. Willian Weed Carpenter died while Marvin was 11 years while Lavine runs an insurance company. Marvin had two older sisters, Vivian Hellen Lorensen and Mary Catherine Grant, who died in 2002 and 2019, respectively. Marvin never married.

Marvin was well known for his craftsmanship, especially how he drilled peepholes on the front doors of homes across San Diego. He also dabbled in real estate.

Marvin was compassionate about singing and composing corrido-style ballads. His cabinet was ever full of original songs. Besides, Carpenter was active in San Ysidro’s civic and community activities. He co-founded a Rotary Club and was a member of the San Ysidro Chamber of Commerce.

Carpenter was courageous, confident, gregarious, and a man of vision. Unfortunately, Carpenter succumbed to Covid-19 complication on October 20th, 2020.
