The Covid Catalog celebrates George Shark Chou Chin, 80, of Nevada.
George Shark Chou Chin was born in Pyinmana, Burma, in 1940. He was born to a successful businessman Chin Lin Ngoon and Chow Toy King, and was the fifth eldest son of 16 children.
Chin married his wife, Nelly Wong, at 18, whom he met in Taiwan. They raised four children in Burma and moved to the U. S. in the early 1970s, settling in San Francisco. He worked as a warehouse clerk at the General Motors plant in Sparks, Nevada. Chin was a cocker fan.
Chin retired at the age of 56 after working at General Motors for 15 years. He loved spending time with friends and family, travelling and eating sweets. ‘He would go above and beyond to help people, ‘ his son Simon said.
On April 22, 2020, George Chin died at Woodland Memorial Hospital after contracting the coronavirus at Stollwood Convalescent Hospital. He was 80.
Chin is survived by his wife Nelly, son Simon, daughters Catherin Cheah and Grace Osborne and seven grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his son Richard.
