The Covid Catalog celebrates Carolina Tovar, 86 and Letty Ramirez, 54.
Carolina Tovar and her daughter Letty Ramirez were inseparable. In March 2020, they both got breathing problems and were taken to the emergency room. On April 3, they died hours apart in separate hospitals. The cause was COVID-19.
They were often together in the kitchen, watching classic Mexican films, doing their nails, and they talked about everything. The women spent their evening together the week before they were hospitalized as they had always done.
Letty had a dry cough but otherwise felt well enough to go to work. Her oxygen fell on March 19, and her daughter rushed her to St. Jude Medical Center in Fullerton. Carolina fell ill shortly and was admitted to the same hospital. Letty was put on a ventilator and transferred to St. John’s Health Center in Santa Monica.
