The Covid Catalog Gone To Soon, Bernice Silver
The Covid Catalog remembers Bernice Silver from New York, who died of acute respiratory failure on April 18, 2020 after being diagnosed with coronavirus. She was 106. Bernice was an activist, environmentalist, and master puppeteer and entertained her audiences while educating them.
‘All her performances were about social issues,’ her nephew, Dean Freedman, said. ‘Her songs were all about clean water, fracking and everything else under the sun.’ She also gave political street theater and song performances on street corners at different worker’s strikes.
Silver also worked in ice cream and radio factories at a candy store that her father owned. She was a person of people and believed in, for the people, by the people.
